CSA Basics
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. CSA is model whereby members buy a “share” at the beginning of the season, and then receive regular distributions of the freshest and highest quality produce possible! It is a beautiful & synergistic relationship between farmers, food-eaters, and mother earth. Current events make the vulnerability of our conventional systems more obvious than ever, and highlight our need for mutual support.
We are offering our support by providing a steady supply of clean & delicious & nutritious vegetables, and a welcoming community space. And we are asking for your financial and moral support to help keep us farming!
You receive a wide variety of seasonal veggies: normally 10 or more items including onions/garlic, both salad & cooking greens, root veggies, peas or beans, summer fruits (cukes, zucchini, tomatoes, peppers, etc), winter squashes, and more! All of our produce is organic, and most is grown by hand in no-till, no-spray, and compost-fed soil and tastes like it came from a backyard garden! The vegetables are truly grown with LOVE, and the farm is literally powered by community.
**All members picking up at Clove Valley agree to spend at least 2 hours per month (or 4 hours every other month) helping on the farm. We can find fun jobs for all ages and abilities. We strongly believe that this will greatly increase the value of the experience for everyone involved!
If there is some reason you think this will be difficult for you, let’s talk!**
Pick-Up Details
Our intention is for pick-up to be convenient for you, manageable for us, and pleasant and abundant for us all!
Pick-up at Clove Valley:
Thurs 4pm-7pm, June 2nd until Nov 3rd (23 weeks)
*When sometimes you inevitably can’t make it on Thursday 4-7… we can hold your share in the cooler until Monday 7pm. But…local members are highly encouraged to pick-up most of the time on Thursdays 4-7 at our wash-station by the greenhouse! This way you get the most freshly harvested and minimally handled veggies, and meanwhile save us the work of packing the shares so we can focus instead on growing more food.
We will also be putting out extra veggies for donation at this time, and offering U-pick for some crops ... so it’s also a fuller experience to pick up Thursday 4-7. This is also a good time to put in the 2/hr per month work requirement. The outdoor space is more beautiful than the barn cooler, and… WE WANT TO SEE YOU! It makes the whole thing more fun and meaningful.
Share Options & Pricing
Official Clove Valley CSA season runs June 3rd until Nov 4th (23 weeks)
The market value of shares is typically significantly more than $30, especially when it’s tomato season and when we have lots of storage crops in the fall. And when we have an overabundance… many of the extras go to members for food preservation and sharing with friends, extras donated.
- Full Share: $690. ($30/week)
- Consider sharing a Full Share with a friend or neighbor! This has worked well for many people, and I would be happy to help match-make just lmk
- Patron Share:$1000 (Full Share + $310 donation)
Inquire for work-trade or other options. We want to make our produce accessible & are currently working out systems to accomplish this. If you have financial means, consider making a donation toward low-income shares.
Look forward to building community with you this year!
